1. Who this applies to

This policy explains how I collect, use, and protect personal information through this website. It covers visitors, people who contact me or request a consultation, and newsletter subscribers. 2. What I collect

Information you give me

  • Name, email, phone number, and the content of messages you send through the contact form or email.

  • Information you enter when booking through Jane Practice Management Software & EMR (my online booking and practice management platform), which is governed by the separate intake and consent documents I provide to clients.

  • Newsletter signup details (name and email) through Substack or Squarespace.

Information collected automatically

  • Technical data such as IP address, browser type, device, pages visited, and referring site, collected by Squarespace and Google Analytics.

  • Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 8).

3. Please don’t send sensitive information

Website forms, email, and social media messages are not fully secure. Please don’t include detailed health or personal information in them. Use them for basic contact and scheduling only. Clinical information is shared in session or through Jane Practice Management Software & EMR.

4. How I use your information

  • To respond to inquiries and arrange consultations.

  • To send newsletters and practice updates you’ve signed up for.

  • To operate, secure, and improve the website.

  • To meet legal and professional obligations.

I don’t sell your information or use it for advertising.

5. Consent and newsletters

I collect and use your information with your consent, which you give by submitting a form or contacting me. Newsletter emails are sent only with your consent and always include an unsubscribe link, as required by Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting me or unsubscribing.

6. Who I share it with

I share information only with service providers that help me run the website and practice, and only as needed:

  • Squarespace

  • Jane Practice Management Software & EMR

These providers may store data outside Canada (e.g., in the United States), where it may be subject to that country’s laws. I may also disclose information where required by law or to protect someone’s safety.

7. Third-party sites and social media

Links to Instagram, Substack, or other external sites take you to platforms with their own privacy practices, which I don’t control. Please review their policies. Interacting with my social media accounts happens on those platforms and is not private.

8. Cookies and analytics

I use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this website and my Jane booking pages, for example which pages are visited and how long visitors stay. This uses cookies and collects information such as your approximate location, device, and browser. I use it for general statistics only and not to identify you or to track you across other sites. I have enabled IP anonymization / turned off advertising features and data sharing in my settings.

You can decline non-essential cookies using the cookie banner, block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s opt-out browser add-on. Doing so may affect how parts of the site work.

9. Retention

Website inquiries that don’t lead to services are kept for 30 days and then deleted. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Client records are retained according to my professional record-keeping obligations and my intake documents.

10. Security

I use reasonable safeguards, including password protection, encrypted devices, secure platform, to protect your information. No online transmission or storage is completely secure, so I can’t guarantee absolute security.

11. Your rights

You can ask to access or correct personal information I hold about you, withdraw consent, or ask questions or raise concerns about how I handle your information. Contact me using the details above. If you’re not satisfied with my response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, for health information, the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.

12. Breaches

If a breach affecting your information occurs and creates a real risk of harm, I’ll notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

13. Children

This site is not directed to children. Please don’t submit personal information on behalf of a minor unless you’re their parent or legal guardian.

14. Changes

I may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
